IQ Test FAQ
Straight answers about accuracy, scoring, privacy and how the test works.
Is this IQ test accurate?
Not in the way a clinical test is. A professional IQ test is given one-to-one by a psychologist and compared with thousands of carefully chosen people. This is an unsupervised online test with 50 fixed questions, and its scoring rests on stated assumptions rather than a norming sample. It is a fair, fun check of how you handle reasoning puzzles, but treat the number as a rough estimate.
How is my score calculated?
Each correct answer earns one point, giving a raw score out of 50. The raw score is converted to an estimated IQ on the usual scale, where 100 is average and 15 points is one standard deviation. Unanswered questions count as incorrect. The How It Works page shows the assumptions in full.
How long does the test take?
Most people need 30 to 45 minutes. There is no time limit: a clock shows how long you have taken, but nothing is cut off. Your progress is kept in your browser while the tab stays open, so a refresh will not lose your answers.
Is the result really free?
Yes. The test and the full result are free. There is no paywall, no email gate and no account. Your result appears as soon as you finish.
Do I need to sign up or give an email address?
No. The test is anonymous. You do not create an account, and you are never asked for your name, email address or any other personal detail.
Are my answers stored?
No. While you take the test, your answers are kept in your own browser so a page refresh does not lose them. When you press “See my result” they are sent to the server once to be scored, then shown to you. They are not saved in a database or written to any log, and no cookie or account links them to you.
Can I retake the test?
Yes, as often as you like. The questions are the same, in the same order, every time, so a second attempt reflects practice as much as ability. For the fairest result, take it once.
What happens if I leave questions blank?
Unanswered questions count as incorrect. Before you submit, the test tells you how many are blank and lets you jump back to them.
What is a good IQ score?
On the standard scale, 100 is average, and about half of people score between 90 and 109. A score of 110 to 119 is above average, and 130 or more is in roughly the top 2%. The IQ score chart lists every range.
Does the test work on phones and tablets?
Yes. The layout adapts to any screen size and you answer with a tap. If the visual puzzles look small on a phone, turn it to landscape.
Is the test accessible?
Yes. The whole test works with a keyboard and a screen reader. Each of the 10 visual puzzles comes with a full description in words, for every box and every answer choice, so it can be solved without seeing the pictures. The accessibility button in the page header lets you enlarge the text, switch to high contrast or a dark theme, use an easy-to-read font, widen the spacing, reduce motion, hide the clock, have questions read aloud and turn on keyboard shortcuts. Your choices are saved on your device only.
Can I share my result?
Yes, if you want to. On the result page you can share your estimated IQ on WhatsApp, Facebook, X, Telegram, LinkedIn or Reddit, send it by email, use your phone’s share menu, or copy the link. The link contains only your estimated IQ, never your answers, and nothing is stored.
Is this an official or Mensa-approved test?
No. It is not affiliated with Mensa or any testing organisation, and it is not a substitute for a professional assessment. If you need a formal IQ score, for example for school or work, ask a qualified psychologist.
